Camilla (Lundquist) MeyersJanuary 7, 1928 ~ May 14, 2017 (age 89)
Camilla Lundquist Meyers passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017. She was born on January 7, 1928 and was a lifelong resident of Sanford, FL. Her parents, Elmer and Alice Swanson Lundquist, were direct descendents of the original Swedish settlers who came to Sanford with General Henry S. Sanford.
In 1956 she married Robert M. Meyers (deceased August 2015) and they were proud parents of 3 children: Glenn Meyers, Patti (Chris) Johnson, & Bob (Sheryl) Meyers. She had 6 grandchildren: Jeremy, Matt, Stuart, Andy, and Lindsay. Grandson Brent passed away in January 2014. Camilla also had 4 great-grandchildren: Scarlett, Sam, Kelsey and Levi. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
Camilla worked for years in the produce offices at Chase & Co., one of Sanford’s oldest, original produce/citrus businesses. When the produce side of the business changed, she worked until retirement for another produce broker, Quality Perishables. She then served as a “Pink Lady Volunteer” for 15+ years at Central Florida Regional Hospital.
Camilla loved being a mother and grandmother. She was always at her sons and grandsons baseball games, her daughters dance recitals, or helping with Girl Scout camp outs. She loved bowling and enjoyed gardening. She was an avid reader, making weekly trips to the Sanford Public Library with her son. She was a member of the Sanford Historical Society and a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Sanford.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 10:00am. Visitation with the family will be from 9:00am – 10:00am at Gramkow Funeral Home Chapel.
