Daisy Mae (Lord) McAlexander was born on November 6, 1921, in Fernandina Beach, Florida. She entered Heaven’s gates on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. Her parents were Reverend Paul Vane Lord and Annie Elizabeth (Brooks) Lord.
Daisy loved the Lord, her family, and her church. Until later years, she was active in the church, doing what she could to further God’s work. Daisy was well known for her biscuits, delicious grape and guava jellies, and graham cracker pies. Daisy was a skilled seamstress and spent her working life in that industry. She loved to work in the yard and could fill a trash can with weeds faster than anyone half her age.
Daisy was preceded in death by her loving husband, James E. McAlexander, as well as seven brothers, six sisters, and her loving sons in law, Mark W. Rumler and Virgil M. Picklesimer. Daisy is survived by her children Carol Picklesimer, William (Bill) Herman, Jeanette Rumler and, Robert (Jerry) Herman (Jane). She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kevin Picklesimer (Sarah), Kenneth Picklesimer (Tracey), Keith Picklesimer (Lori), Angie Childers (Anthony), Sherri Shasteen (Floyd), Michael Rumler (Danita), and Jeff Rumler (Cristin). She has thirteen great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and two more on the way.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 14th from 10:00 AM ~ 11:00 AM at Gramkow Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, September 14th at 11:00 AM at Gramkow Funeral Home, 500 E. Airport Blvd., Sanford, FL. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park, 4991 Co. Rd. 46A, Lake Mary, FL.
