Rafael Angel Irizarry, Sr., age 80, of Casselberry, Fl., passed away April 17, 2019. He was born September 24, 1938 in San German, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Martin and Georgina (Perez) Irizarry. Rafael served his country proudly with the United States Army. Following being stationed in Germany he was honorably discharged June 30, 1968. Rafael was an employee of the Café at Florida Hospital, retiring at the age of 79; after 26 years of food service. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, the Tampa Bay Rays, he loved to garden, work in his yard; his favorite beverage was coffee, Rafael was an avid coffee drinker . His family remembers fondly he was a loving, kind, selfless person. One who never met a stranger and one who would give you the shirt off his back. Rafael was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years Alma Irizarry who passed away on Nov. 2, 2016 which was also the day of her birthday. His brother Luis E. Irizarry, and sister Esther Maria "Tely" Irizarry. He is survived by his children Nelson Isaac Irizarry, Rafael Angel Irizarry, Jr., Erica Irizarry Stoner, brothers Martin, and Andres Irizarry, sister Blanca Toro Irizarry, sister-in-law Lydia Toro. Rafael is also survived by six grandchildren Rafael Angel Irizarry III, Aaron Stoner, Stephanie Irizarry, Sarah Irizarry, Kazandra Irizarry, Mia Irizarry,one great grandchild Story Irizarry, and niece Elizabeth Rivera. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Collison Family Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 25, 2019 in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
